Terms of service
Last updated: 4 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Talk 2 Technologies Ltd. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use Talk 2.
1. Who we are
Talk 2 is run by Talk 2 Technologies Ltd, a company registered in Nigeria with registration number [RC number] and its registered office at [Company address].
"We", "us" and "our" mean that company. "You" means the person using Talk 2. "The app" means Talk 2 on the web and on mobile, including the wallet, chat and location features.
2. Who can use Talk 2
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be able to enter into a contract, and not be barred from using a service like this under Nigerian law.
- The details you give us — your name especially — must be true and must match the identity you later verify. An account in someone else's name is not allowed.
- One person, one account, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
3. Your account, your password, your PIN
Your password gets you into the account. Your 4-digit PIN authorises money leaving the wallet. Both are yours to look after.
- Do not share your password or PIN with anyone, including us. We will never ask for them.
- Do not pick a PIN anyone could guess from your details, and do not write it down beside your phone.
- Turn on two-factor sign-in if you can. It is the single biggest thing you can do to protect the account.
- Tell us straight away at [support email] if you think someone else has got in.
You are responsible for what happens on your account, including transactions confirmed with your PIN. Where a loss is caused by something we did wrong, it is ours to put right — see section 12.
4. Identity verification
To use the wallet fully you must verify your identity with a BVN or a NIN, which we check through a third-party provider against the name on your account. A dedicated funding account cannot be opened until that check passes, because the verified number is what our payment provider needs in order to open it.
We may also ask for identity documents, which a member of our staff reviews. We can refuse or undo verification where the details do not match, where a document looks altered, or where we are required to.
5. The wallet is not a bank account
This is important. Talk 2 Technologies Ltd is not a bank and does not hold a banking licence. Your Talk 2 balance is not a bank deposit.
- Payments, funding accounts, payouts and card transactions are processed by licensed third-party providers, not by us.
- Your balance does not earn interest and is not covered by deposit insurance.
- Your money is held with our payment partners. Their own terms apply to the part of the journey they handle.
6. Payments, transfers and bills
- Check the details before you confirm. A transfer, a payout, a bill or an airtime purchase sent to the wrong number or the wrong account usually cannot be reversed.
- A payment may be queued rather than instant. Where a provider confirms later, the app shows the status as it changes.
- We can decline, hold or reverse a transaction where we suspect fraud, where a provider rejects it, where your balance is short, or where the law requires it.
- Where a payment fails after the money has left your wallet, the amount returns to the wallet.
7. Fees
Fees are shown in the app before you confirm anything that carries one. The amount in the app at the moment you confirm is the amount that applies. We may change fees, and we will show the new amount in the app before it takes effect. Our payment providers and your bank may charge separately, and those charges are not ours.
8. Messages and the things you send
What you write and send stays yours. By sending it through Talk 2 you give us permission to store it and to deliver it to the people you sent it to — nothing more. We do not use your messages to advertise and we do not sell them.
Messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. Our privacy policy explains what that means in practice.
You are responsible for what you send. Do not send anything you do not have the right to share.
9. What is not allowed
Using Talk 2, you must not:
- commit fraud, or use the wallet to move the proceeds of crime, launder money or finance terrorism;
- pay for or sell anything illegal, including drugs, weapons, stolen goods and stolen account details;
- run a scam of any kind — fake investments, romance scams, impersonating a bank, phishing for PINs or codes;
- harass, threaten, stalk or abuse anyone, or send sexual content involving children;
- send bulk unsolicited messages, or use the app to spam groups;
- pretend to be someone else, or use an account that is not yours;
- use someone's shared location to follow, watch or frighten them;
- try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, scrape it, or get at data that is not yours;
- get round a suspension, or open a new account after we have closed one.
If someone does any of this to you, report it in the app or write to [support email].
10. Live location sharing
Sharing your live location is always your choice. Nothing is shared until you start a share, and you pick who sees it and for how long — 15 minutes, 1 hour, or until you switch it off. You can stop a share at any moment.
- A share link works without an account, so anyone holding it can see your position until the share ends. Send it only to people you trust.
- Position accuracy depends on your device and your network. Treat it as a guide, not as a precise record.
- Do not share someone else's location, and do not use the feature to keep tabs on a person without their knowledge.
11. Suspension and closing accounts
By us
A member of our staff can suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, where there are signs of fraud, where verification has failed, or where the law requires it. The reason is recorded whenever we do it, and we will tell you what it was unless telling you would be unlawful or would get in the way of an investigation.
While an account is suspended you may not be able to send messages or move money. A balance that is yours stays yours, and we will return it once any investigation is finished and the law allows.
If you think a suspension was wrong, write to [support email] and a person will look at it again.
By you
You can close your account whenever you like, in Settings → Danger Zone. It needs your wallet PIN, your password and a typed confirmation, and we will refuse while there is money in the wallet — empty it first.
12. Availability, and the limits of our liability
We work to keep Talk 2 running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or always error-free. Maintenance, network problems and failures at our providers all happen. Features may change or be withdrawn.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for:
- fraud or dishonesty on our part;
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Otherwise, and as far as Nigerian law allows:
- we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, lost data or indirect loss;
- we are not liable for what other users do, including anyone who defrauds you through the app, though we will help you and the authorities where we can;
- we are not liable for a failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, including a provider's outage or a network failure;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to [liability cap].
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top shows when we last did. For a change that materially affects you, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Talk 2 after that, you accept the new terms; if you would rather not, you can close your account.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
Please come to us first — most things are quicker to fix that way. Open a support ticket in the app or write to [support email].
15. Odds and ends
- These terms, together with the privacy policy and the cookie policy, are the whole agreement between us.
- If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your account to someone else. We may transfer this agreement if our business is reorganised or sold, and your rights will not be reduced by that.
