Talk 2

Cookie policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Talk 2 uses three cookies. All three exist to keep you signed in. We do not run advertising, analytics or tracking cookies of any kind.

2. The cookies we use

NamePurposeTypeLifetime
talk2_tokenHolds your sign-in token, so the app knows it is you on every page. Without it you would be asked to sign in again on every click.Strictly necessary · httpOnly, first-partyUntil the token expires or you sign out
talk2_token_expiryRecords when the sign-in token runs out, so we can renew it quietly before it does instead of logging you out mid-sentence.Strictly necessary · httpOnly, first-partySame as the token above
talk2_admin_tokenThe same thing for our own staff signing in to the admin console. It is never set on a normal user account.Strictly necessary · httpOnly, first-partyUntil the staff session expires or they sign out

That is the whole list. If we ever add one, it will appear here before it appears in your browser.

3. Why we do not ask permission for these

All three are strictly necessary: they are what makes a signed-in session possible. The app cannot work without them. Under Nigerian data protection rules, cookies that are essential to deliver a service you asked for do not need separate consent — and there is nothing useful to consent to, since refusing them would simply mean you could not sign in.

We still tell you about them, because you should know what is on your device.

4. Other things we keep in your browser

Cookies are not the only kind of browser storage. Talk 2 uses two others, both small and both first-party.

  • sessionStorage — holds a short-lived token during a password reset, so the app knows your emailed code was accepted when you reach the new-password screen. It is cleared when you close the tab.
  • localStorage — remembers that you have seen and answered the cookie banner, so we do not show it on every visit.

Neither is sent to us automatically the way a cookie is, and neither is used to identify you across other websites.

5. No advertising, no analytics, no tracking

To be exact: Talk 2 sets no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics and no tracking cookies at present. We do not have an advertising network, we do not load a third-party analytics script, and we do not build a profile of you across other websites.

If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent before setting anything that is not strictly necessary. We will not add tracking quietly.

6. Clearing or blocking cookies

You can see, delete and block cookies in your browser's settings. Be aware that clearing ours signs you out, and blocking them stops you signing in at all.

Where to look

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and "Delete browsing data" to clear.
  • Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. On iOS: Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data.
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Signing out of Talk 2 clears the session cookies for you, which is the tidier way to do it on a shared computer.

7. Changes and contact

We will update this page whenever the list above changes, and move the date at the top. Questions about any of it go to [support email], or to [Data Protection Officer email] if it is about your data rights.

Our privacy policy covers everything else we hold about you, and the terms of service set out the agreement between us.
